Our Leadership
A team committed to transformative and sustainable conservation of the Amboseli Ecosystem
Our work and impact is steered by our two-tier leadership, comprising the Amboseli Governing Council and the Board of Trustees. The two are supported by a dedicated Secretariat.
Governing Council
The Amboseli Governing Council is the highest level of authority at AET. The Council drives our organizational policies and strategy and provides counsel to the Board of Trustees and Secretariat, ensuring we remain true to our vision and deliver on our mission for the benefit of the people and nature of the Amboseli Ecosystem.
A representative body, the Council comprises 38 total members as follows:
24 officials from group ranches (3 from each of the 8 group ranches)
1 official from the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS)
4 officials from NGOs (1 member each from International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW), African Conservation Centre (ACC), Amboseli Trust for Elephants (ATE) and Big Life)
1 official from the Amboseli-Tsavo Game Scouts Association (ATGSA)
1 official from Conservancies Committee (the chairperson of the committee)
1 official from hoteliers and business community
1 official from the county government
1 official from the local administration (the chief)
2 officials representing women’s groups
2 officials (1 male, 1 female) representing the youth

Board of Trustees
Our Board of Trustees brings together a broad range of proficiency, including community, scientific, conservation, media and business leaders with demonstrated commitment to sustainable conservation that safeguards nature and transforms the community.
The 12-member Board oversees and advises on AET’s overall performance, providing strategic direction on operational efficiency, financial wellbeing, effective engagement with our diverse stakeholders and ensuring that AET is consistently delivering on its mandate.
